The original product was created because it is very difficult and expensive to attract, train, coordinate, supervise, nourish, clothe, and retain staff in order to operate an event.
Event volunteers are NOT free. The local government mandates for on-course personnel were outrageous and costly to put up in hotels. My silent response was “I can make people cheaper than that”. Hence: A stick figure with a bicycle wheel for its head was born!!!
First came Jerry Garcia and the Deadheads. Then came Jimmy Buffett with his fun-filled Parrotheads. Since our first event was for bicyclists, it only took a couple of minutes to come up with the name Spinheads.
Everyone naturally looks to the head area for messaging. The ability to add or change the head insert to reflect the figure’s purpose was an unexpected bonus. It’s also great when the wind blows because the insert pivots and catches the eye of the viewers.
White water rapids served as the inspiration for the creation of this product. The raft material is extremely durable, survives all kinds of nasty weather, and quickly compacted for shipping anywhere in the world. The round body parts allow strong or gusty winds to easily flow by… allowing the figure to remain standing tall for all to see.
Extensive testing has proved that safety orange is the most visible at distance and especially when placed in huge crowds!!!
People love to pose with this tall, friendly friend. It makes a perfect backdrop for a group photo because the head insert instantly connects those gathered to an event.
It is very important to optimize the size of letters, numbers and/or symbols to ensure maximum visibility at the furthest distance.
The head insert is attached using zip ties through eyelets located at 12 and 6 o’clock. This allows the disc to pivot along centerline and let the wind pass thru. Other eyelets are located at 3 and 9 o’clock to affix the head. Check insert to make sure the unused tabs do not interfere with its ability to pivot.
Point the figure in the designated direction or at a specific location. It may be necessary to rotate the angle slightly for sighting clarity. This often occurs when signaling continued travel along a path without turning.
2 or 3 Sandbags totaling 20-25 lbs. are used to secure the figure in place. An additional bag is suggested for windy conditions. Also, 4 tabs with 1-inch eyelets are located in the base for use with stakes or ropes.
